DWR C6 - Finishing
Transparency all the way
Our fabric is finished with DWR C6 that makes water and dirt roll off the surface of fabric instead of being absorbed by it. Treatment makes the fabric water-repellent (but not fully waterproof).
DWR toxics persist in the environment and has been a problem on the outdoor outerwear industry. C6 treatment, which we use in our products, is already better choice. It breaks down faster in the environment and is less toxicity to humans, wildlife and fish.
Even better solutions are yet to come!
Test the finishing
These treatments wearing out over time and washes cannot be avoided. The surface remains perfect for about 15-20 washes. You can test the surface by spraying some water on the fabric. If water remains in droplets you’re fine. If water absorbs in the fabric DWR has lost its magic. You can buy finishing spray and make your trousers water-repellent again at home. There is fluorocarbon free and biodegradable solutions on the market!
Material Care
Make sure to follow the washing labels and instructions for your product carefully, they are designed to optimize the lifespan of your product.
Keep your gear looking its best by washing only when necessary. Save energy and water while extending the lifespan of your garment. For pesky stains, opt for spot-cleaning rather than tossing it in the machine. For a quick freshing after light activity, you can let the product air outside or use clothing mists which removes odor.
After washing your pants, give them a gentle shake to straighten the fabric, then hang them on the line to air dry. We recommend steaming over ironing, as it's gentler for the fabric fibers.
